Details & artisan story

The Kendwa

Two thirds cream, one third deep blue. The proportion matters — this is not a bag trying to be dramatic. The blue sits at the base like water under a pale sky, grounding something that would otherwise float.

Named after Kendwa Beach in Zanzibar, where the sand is that exact near-white and the Indian Ocean holds that exact depth of blue at the horizon. The colorway is not decorative. It's a place.

Market bucket silhouette. Wide enough to take seriously. The structured sisal holds its shape loaded or empty — you can fill it with produce, with beach things, with whatever a full day requires, and it will still look like it meant to be carried that way.

The cream is dyed, not undyed — getting sisal to hold a clean near-white is deliberate work. The blue at the base is built into the weave before the bag takes shape, so the line where one meets the other is clean but carries the slight variation of something made by hand rather than cut by machine.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Keep from prolonged moisture, store somewhere dry. Each bag is unique — the boundary between cream and blue will sit slightly differently in every piece.

9" x 11" — 100% hand-dyed sisal — Handmade in Machakos, Kenya.
