The Sand Checkered

The checkered pattern is one of the oldest geometric decisions a weaver can make — two colors, alternating, no room for error. Every square has to hold its shape across the entire surface or the whole thing reads wrong. It's a pattern that looks simple until you try to make it.

These are woven in the warm sand tone the Machakos region already knows, so the two colors in the check are close — not high contrast, not shouting. More like a quiet conversation between light and shadow in the same palette.

The kind of basket that works in any room because it has already decided what it is.

Comes with a plastic liner to protect the weave from moisture. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and keep from prolonged water exposure. Each basket is unique — the sand tones will shift slightly between baskets depending on how the fiber took the dye.
