Details & artisan story

The Manjano

Manjano means yellow in Swahili. The name tells you where this bag is going before you see it — warm, direct, unambiguous about what it is.

The body is red. Not terracotta, not rust, not burnt anything — red. The kind of color that doesn't ask permission in a room. At the base, a band of yellow sits beneath it like the sun the name promised, small enough to let the red lead but present enough to change everything about how the red reads. Without it the bag is bold. With it the bag is alive.

The handles are ring forms, pale like ivory, circular and complete. They sit on top of the red the way jewelry sits on skin — not functional afterthoughts but part of the design logic. The Duara was named for the circle. The Manjano just carries one.

Bucket silhouette. Compact. 7" x 10" — the size of a bag that knows exactly what it's for and doesn't pretend otherwise.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Keep from prolonged moisture, store somewhere dry. Each bag is unique — red dye in particular holds differently across sisal fibers, so the depth and warmth of the color will vary slightly between pieces.

7" x 10" — 100% hand-dyed sisal — Handmade in Machakos, Kenya.
